Moreover, the city of Alicante will, at the end of 2008, be hosting the start of the Sailing Around the World, the Volvo Ocean Race, the around the world boat race with the oldest ports of call and one of the hardest and most demanding races in the world, which, for the first time, will be setting sail from a Mediterranean city. This is a nautical competition with a great following and media impact internationally.
All the cruiser sailing schools on this page are officially approved and entered on the register of the Maritime Development Centre of the Generalitat.
The dinghy sailing schools are officially approved by the Sailing Federation and the Maritime Development Centre of the Generalitat.
The dinghy sailing companies are those listed in the Region of Valencia Sailing Federation, in the Nautical Resorts and the Region of Valencia Association of Nautical and Recreational Activity Companies (AENCVA).
The charter companies or those renting cruise vessels have their crafts registered under the sixth list, as required by law for the undertaking of their business activity.
The diving centres that appear are officially approved and entered on the register of the Maritime Development Centre of the Generalitat, as required by current regulations. Moreover, these centres are internationally recognised by the various different competent bodies that regulate participation in subaquatic activities (FASCV integrated in FEDAS, CMAS, ACUC, SSI, PADI).
