Performance art in aid of charity at Alcalà de Xivert

Phonetic poetry, noise, body art and photo-performances are some of the means of expression that come together at the Trobada de Performances Dos Minuts per a la Guerra (Two Minutes for the War Performance Festival) held in Alcalà de Xivert and Alcossebre on 17th May.

The 10 artists invited to the event will develop a series of activities focused on a particular topic: war seen for the viewpoint of social commitment. The artists are Mathieu Bohet, Bartolomé Ferrando, Ángela García, Martí Guillermo, Manuel Morales, Lucía Peiró, Sergi Quiñonero, Avelino Saavedra, Rafael Santibáñez and Nelo Vilar.

From 10pm. to midnight on 17th May anyone who wants to can enjoy these live performances on a wooden stage erected on Playa Romana beach in Alcossebre. The performances will be followed by a series of short movies about war.

Performance means event and it dates back to the Dadaism and Futurism of the early 20th century, artistic trends that aimed to demystify works of art an get them out of museums in order to show their real meaning.
