Estudy climate and tourist activity:: comparitive data on the mediterranean climate

The major contrasts of the mediterranean climate in the iberian peninsula.

There are two major climatic groups in the Iberian Peninsula: the Oceanic or Western Coastal Maritime to the North (Cfb) and the Mediterranean climate, which influences the southern two-thirds of the peninsula. The geographic position of the physiographic peninsular group, the latitude, the proximity of the sea and the height create a series of regional variations, which are important to remember:

CLIMATIC TYPE DIFFERENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS
1.- CONTINENTAL MEDITERRANEAN Excessively cold winters.
2.- HUMID CATALONIAN MEDITERRANEAN More than 100 days of rain per year.
3.- VALENCIAN-BALEARIC MEDITERRANEAN Precipitation concentrated in Autumn.
4.- DRY MEDITERRANEAN Few days with rain per year.
5.- SUBTROPICAL MEDITERRANEAN Very mild winter temperatures.
6.- HOT SUMMER MEDITERRANEAN Average maximum temperatures > 26ºC
7.- CONTINENTAL MEDITERRANEAN Very dry with cold winters.
8.- OCEANIC MEDITERRANEAN Precipitation concentrated in winter.
