A singular building that has had various different uses throughout its more than seven centuries of existence. In this same place the primitive Saint Mary's Church stood, from the second half of the 13th century right up to halfway through the 18th century, of which the main door (Romanic style) still remains. In 1787 a hospital was built that was still in operation up to the year 1877, the year in which the new Oliver Civil Hospital was opened. Between 1902 and 1903 this building was adapted for the Barracks of the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard) and, halfway through the 20th century, it was newly reformed on the inside for the children's school and, finally, it housed the School of Arts and Trades. A new restoration of the building is planned for the future Palacio de Justicia (Palace of Justice i.e. Courthouse).
