The structure’s origins go back to the era of Jaime I even though the definitive structure was not finished until late 15th and early 16th centuries under the commands of Count of Cocentaina. Inside, the Sala Dorada (Golden Hall) and Sala de Embajadores (Hall of the ambassadors) offer mural paintings. Also, outstanding are the Santa Barbara gothic altarpiece and a unique example in the Region of Valencia of supporting structure at the Paraguas (umbrella) Tower. Next to the Palace is the Franciscan Clarisas Convent, an example of pure Neapolitan Baroque style.
