Dénia conjures up images of the Mediterranean, beaches, coves and delicious gastronomy. Discover the town’s renowned cuisine in the market.

Mercado Municipal is a must-visit during your stay in Dénia, a beautiful seaside town in the Costa Blanca. Overlooked by Montgó, Dénia breathes the Mediterranean, and nowhere more so than at the town market.

The market has been open for over seventy years. Over the course of its history, it has become a hub of socialisation and the place to purchase the highest quality locally sourced products. The market also hosts a variety of cultural and gastronomic events, promoting local delicacies such as the red shrimp (the product the town is most renowned for).

The market is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 3pm. It has lively cafés where you can sit and take a well-deserved rest after seeing all the town’s sights. We recommend taking a look around the seafood area where you can see the catch of the day. If you’re in the town on a Friday, don’t miss the opportunity to browse the stalls that pop up around the indoor market, which predominantly stock local fruit and vegetables.

Mercado Municipal in Dénia is also involved in charity events, giveaways and traditional festivals. Nit de la Llum, for instance, a celebration held in December in which thousands of candles light up the historic centre. The market is a part of the festival with its carols and many attractions for children. So how about it? Take the time to explore this most iconic of markets and soak up the incredible atmosphere.
