In recent years it is celebrated on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday. There is a fancy-dress contest and a popular verbena (open-air celebration on the eve of a saint's day) in the square called plaza La Palla. In this fiesta a sweet typical of the city, the saginosa, is consumed together with the corresponding chocolate.
