This circular construction is located in the Carrascar, at an altitude of 780 metres. It has a depth of 7 m., a diameter of 12.3 m. and a capacity of 830 cubic metres. The icebox was used to store the winter snow for later marketing the ice. The ice was used to preserve foodstuffs and for therapeutic purposes, among others. The work of the "nevater" was active between the 16th and 20th centuries, a period known as the Little Ice Age.

The "Casa de la Neu' or the Parcent Snow House is located on the north face of the Sierra del "Carrascar de Parcent" at an altitude of about 780 meters, flanked by summits and crags that make this area very dark and cold. The ice house has a circular floor and the elevation of the land has been achieved by the construction of a stone and masonry wall, and by the use of terracing in the northern part of the construction. On the lower land beneath the snow house there are layers of old terraces. The building is in a medium state of conservation as the upper part is not conserved. Some buttresses have been left that would have encircled the construction to reduce the thrust of the roof. The interior wall is almost completely conserved, and the bottom appears full of stones and earth. The snow house was constructed in the eighteenth century as we can see in some letters between the Count of Parcent with Delegate Micó, concerning the making of this ice factory.

Parcent, October 24, 1755: Letter from Micó to the Count of Parcent.

“...Exmo. Sr: The masters mason and stonecutter came down from the mountain after finding the stone for the arches at a short distance from the well and the upper part of it, although its quality will make it costly to cut, and it has been deduced of course, that the arches will be mainly formed of cut stone, at Your Excellency's pleasure..”

“I think you could resolve it as you wish, keeping in mind that to take profit from the cost of the work, the well will need to contain at least 3,000 loads of snow, as at its lowest price it is usually valued at 10 real is in current money ... "

Valencia, October 29, 1755: Letter from the Count of Parcent to Micó.

"... I have seen the plant, profile and cost of the snow well and adjacent house on which subject I will advise you on another occasion because at present I cannot decide. This is all I wish to say now, God be with you.”
