The Cova de la Garganta is a shallow rocky cavity, which was the refuge of a bandit called Tona, who robbed traders who came and went along the old road to Valencia. This cave has been known since Neanderthal times. As a cave it is shallow, but 50 metres wide horizontally, which is why it is classified as a shelter.

If we visit the Cova de la Garganta, located in a beautiful spot in the municipality of Senija, we can find a wonder of nature that can rarely be seen with the naked eye: a fossilised tree.

How to get

You can get there from Senija along a cobbled path known as "Camí dels Murtalets", and if you follow it you will ascend to Les Bassetes, whose summit is crowned by an iron cross, the Cruz Alta. If we continue along the path towards the A-7 we will find the Cova.
