Lime kilns are constructions used for the transformation of calcareous stones into lime. This was achieved by exposing stones to very high temperatures within these furnaces for more than 24 hours. After 24-48 hours the oven was uncovered and the stones had become white. They were then ready to be crushed to obtain the lime

Lime is the traditional paint used for our houses, but it was also an excellent building material for the making of lime mortar. Its properties were: to be the best insulation and waterproofing and at the same time be a fungicide, that is to say it eliminated all organic organisms.
