Diving Baptism in the Costa Blanca: What Should You Know?
Every year, the province of Alicante attracts thousands of tourists who come to relax, sunbathe, and cool off in the crystal clear waters of our coast, but the Costa Blanca offers much more, and to discover it, you need to wear a diving suit and mask.
The Costa Blanca is well known for its beaches, 244 km of coastline from Dénia to Pilar de la Horadada, where you can enjoy the Mediterranean practically every day of the year. This privileged climate with mild winters allows reef overs to dive during the four seasons.
However, to enjoy the seabed of the Costa Blanca, one does not need to be an expert; you just have to go for a diving baptism through any club with official certification. A diving baptism serves to try the sport, performing a shallow dive.
It is an activity that can be done just once, and visit a specific seabed for a day, or it can also be used to try the sport before taking a diving course. The baptism consists of two parts, on the one hand, the theoretical part where the dive instructor will explain basic concepts about immersion and on the other hand the practice, where one dives no lower than 6 meters deep with an instructor to discover a new world.
Sheltered places are always chosen, with few currents to have a safe environment for beginners. For example, some well-known points of immersion are Cala Tangó de Xàbia or the Penyal d'Ifach in Calpe.
The activity usually lasts a total of about 3 hours (30-40 minutes underwater), and at the end, one gets a certificate.
