Hiking Trails to Enjoy Water
Hiking Trails to Enjoy Water
Comunitat Valenciana has multiple natural spaces to enjoy a good swim. Besides, these locations are surrounded by stunning landscapes, hiking trails and nearby towns that can be visited to complete a unique experience.
Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in Valencia. Surrounded by impressive nature, it is easy to go hiking from there onto different routes, among which are Ruta del Agua and Ruta del Acueducto de Peña Cortada.
Arriving in town and going around its corners is fun; but if we want to refresh ourselves in the summer season, we will have to take the Ruta del Agua and walk the narrow paths that lead to La Playeta, the endpoint of the route. It is a beautiful, short, and relaxed excursion, ideal for couples or children, it starts at Molino de Puerto and takes us directly to the natural spa along a well-defined and easy-to-follow trail.
La Playeta is a hidden area in the mountain, where water coming from the Chelva river is stored, it remains in the shade almost all day due to the precipices around it. It is a wonderful area to share with the family and go for a refreshing swim. If you are an experienced and adventurous hiker, upstream you will find deeper waterfalls and wells.
Salto de la Novia en Navajas
Right next to the town of Navajas, we find Salto de la Novia, one of the most attractive spots for tourists in times of high temperatures. This waterfall falls through a cornice about 30 meters high directly to the banks of the Palancia River.
The name comes from a curious tradition. In the past, it was believed that brides had to jump into the river before getting married to ensure a happy and fertile marriage. An impressive aquatic area, with crystal clear water sources, some of them with healing properties due to their high mineral content and pleasant temperatures throughout the year.
At the end of this walk, you can follow with the adventure in the city of Segorbe, which has a water park, Segóbriga Park, set in the medieval era. Mountains, nature and the greenery of the area guarantee a unique experience crossing Alto Palancia.
For all those who enjoy tranquillity and serenity, there is Benitandús, a place where you can breathe fresh air in the middle of nature and enjoy exceptional landscapes.
Here, it is possible to rake various hiking routes tailored to the needs of each person and beautiful views of the Sierra de Espadán. With the rain, the waters of the Veo river fill its capacity and end up flowing through the spillways until the Onda Reservoir, a small lake that seems taken from a postcard. Calm waters surrounded by a forest where you can enjoy walks on the banks of peaceful backwaters.
This small swamp is mainly used to irrigate crops in the nearby town, therefore, to get to know it in all its splendour, it is better to visit right after the rains and before the irrigation season begins.
Touring this dam and walking the trails around it is a rewarding experience, it is even possible to kayak on its crystal clear waters and enjoy this idyllic environment a few meters away from the urban environment.
Close to the town of Chera through the CV-395 road, we find the Buseo Reservoir. A beautiful marsh with crystal clear waters that receives its waters from the influx of the Reatillo River.
We can go hiking, go for an outdoor swim and enjoy the impressive wooded view of the area, walk through the recreational areas and escape the hot summer days submerged in the cold waters of the reservoir built in 1915 for tourist purposes.
There are recreational activities such as sports fishing, camping and mainly, hiking around. It is close to the capital, offering tranquillity to visitors, right in the centre of the Chera y Sot de Chera Natural Park where ravines and caves proliferate, which makes the hiking trails even more interesting.
After overcoming a drop of 200 meters, there is a viewpoint from where it is possible to enjoy beautiful views of the reservoir. Going a little further you can find waterfalls and go through the pine forest, which will easily make you feel as if you were in the Alps.
