Visit the Maca and Marq
Both the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante (Maca) and the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (Marq) have an agenda of activities and workshops for children. They collaborate closely with the schools, elaborating an educational program available to schools that want to participate, but also offer activities such as storytelling, workshops, or other events to enjoy as a family. Espai de Telles
Following inside the museums, in the Museum of Fine Arts of Alicante (MUBAG), we find a room dedicated to children. The Espai de Telles is a space for babies, from 0 to 3 years, to explore the museum through sensory activities, light boxes, mirrors, etc. all adapted so they can discover the shapes and colours interacting with their surroundings.
El Palmeral Park
Located in front of the sea, in the neighbourhood of San Gabriel, it is an ideal place to spend the morning or afternoon with children, crossing its paths among palm trees, trails or crossing its wooden bridges. In this park, you can enjoy various recreational activities where children will have a great time with rowing boats, naval modelling by radio control with monitors bi-weekly on Sundays, BMX track for bikes, swings, sports courts, board games like parchís, the goose game or chess, and the petanque.
The World of Children
Without having to get away from the city centre, between the Explanada and the Port of Alicante we find this modest amusement park, with everything you need to spend a fun afternoon with kids. Among its attractions, we see a two-storey ball pool, fun inflatables, trampolines, a Ferris wheel, mini golf and boat rides.
Teatro Principal de Alicante
Another option is the theatre, in their programming, they dedicate several sessions to the smallest ones with plays and musical shows adapted for them. This theatre opened in 1847, besides being one of the most outstanding neoclassical buildings in the province, can be a perfect place to enjoy a play with the family.
Playa del Postiguet
With the arrival of good weather, you can always enjoy a day at the beach, and in Alicante, it is easy since there is an urban beach next to the Port of Alicante, under the Castle of Santa Bárbara. In addition to being able to cool off in its waters or play int he sand, the beach has playground areas.
Cabo de las Huertas
Between the beach of San Juan and the Albufereta, is the Cabo de las Huertas, with many activities where children are the protagonists. This place offers various outdoor activities in contact with nature as the walking route to the lighthouse or snorkelling in its coves to see crabs and minnows. But also, the Cabo de las Huertas has created numerous spaces for kids and playgrounds with slides, swings, wooden castles with obstacles where children can enjoy as never before.
Excursion to Tabarca
From the port of Alicante, you can take a day trip to the beautiful island of Tabarca, away from traffic and surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. You can enjoy its beaches during the summer or visit its urban core walking along to its walls, take a walk to the lighthouse and the Tower of Sant Josep, and of course, taste its most traditional dish: el caldero.
