The Five Most Beautiful Villages of the Valéncian Serrania
The Valéncian Serrania, due to its geographical location, has unparalleled spots. Discover five of its most beautiful villages taking routes throughout their natural environment and walking through its historic centres.
Bocairent
It is a mountainous municipality where the Clariano and Vinalopó rivers run through. One of the most striking patrimonies of this town is Les Covetes dels Moros. A group of 10th-century caves with window-shaped openings located in a vertical rock.
Chulilla
A village located at the foot of the hill dominated by an Arab castle with towers and walls. An incomparable setting for hiking in its surroundings. The most famous route is the route of the hanging bridges. The most striking bridge is the one that has a height of about 15 meters above the river and a length of 21 meters.
Requena
Located between the Castilian-La Mancha plateau and the Mediterranean. Its main attraction is the old town, a reflection of its history from a time when its economy was not based on the wine industry, but in the production of silk – witnessed by the Colegio de Arte Mayor de la Seda, located in the Barrio de la Villa.
Jalance
Located in the centre of the Cofrentes Valley. Its most emblematic site is La Cueva de Don Juan, displayed on a backdrop of microcrystalline limestones. You can see stalactites, stalagmites, columns, among other natural curiosities.
Ayora
Ayora has two extremely tempting attractions: The Red Thread Route, a touristic and cultural tour through the village which reveals monuments, traditions and stories, following a red line marked on the urban layout. The other is the Primer Corte de la Miel, a local tourist festival that includes beekeeping, gastronomic and cultural events. Its protagonist is honey, highly appreciated and valued for its tremendous quality.
