Romería a la Ermita de Sant Pau

Sant Pau chapel is one of the most important places of worship in Albocàsser. Every Whit Tuesday, the locals make a pilgrimage here, known as Romería a la Ermita de Sant Pau.

Every year on Whit Tuesday, the town of Albocàsser prepares for one of its most important festivals: Romería a la Ermita de Sant Pau, the Pilgrimage to Sant Pau Chapel. The day starts at 10am with the pilgrimage, which starts at La Asunción church and continues for 3km to Sant Pau chapel. Local citizens walk the distance accompanied by the notes of musical instruments. Upon arrival at Sant Pau chapel, a mass is held.

But the festivities don’t stop here. After mass, friends and family gather to enjoy a country lunch together. The opportunity is also taken to dance the traditional Ball Pla to the notes of a local band.

Romería de Sant Pau is one of the most important pilgrimages in l'Alt Maestrat and the chapel is one of the most well-known and most visited in the county. During your time in Albocàsser, make sure you give it a visit.
