Among the mountains of Ares del Maestrat hides Nevera del Regatxols, an 8-metre deep snow cellar. Built in the 17th century, the cellar is a perfect example of how ingenuity and the cold combined to make structures holding snow to preserve foods. The snow cellar was restored in 2005 and was transformed into an information centre, offering an exhibition and audio-visual material to discover what the ice trade was like at the time. During your visit, you will see a scene recreating how a nevater stored snow. Transporting you right back to the 17th century.
