The celebration of these festivities is very special here in Onda, following a traditional legacy passed on from father to son that instead of being lost with time has grown stronger with every passing year. So, a large number of the local inhabitants wearing the vestments of their respective brotherhoods participate in the religious processions of Holy Week. The pasos or floats with the religious figures on are taken on to the streets, with all the emotional fervour one would expect from people who have celebrated this deeply-rooted religious tradition for centuries. When Holy Week is over, however, this devout and contemplative mood changes to one of joy and the people of Onda enjoy traditional street parties, firecrackers and the typical mona de Pascua, or Easter bun, to share in harmony with friends and family.
