Guided tour of the Onda Tile Museum.
The Onda City Council, recognizing the great historical and artistic value of the Manolo Safont Tile Museum, as well as its potential as a tourist attraction and, therefore, a catalyst for the local economy, has made a firm commitment to the museum and its potential, thus ushering in a new era for this museum dedicated to public service. The collection, comprising approximately 80,000 objects, spans from classical times to the present day, with highlights including the 19th- and 20th-century tile collections, as well as industrial ethnological objects and the documentary series from this most recent period.
The Tile Museum must be understood within the physical and social context of a region that continues to produce ceramic goods, where these items are not merely part of the past but currently form the economic backbone of these communities and are emerging as a thriving industry for the future. Culturally, it is clear that the institution serves as an irreplaceable center for conservation, research, and dissemination regarding the history of ceramics and its industry in our region.
As a result of extensive preservation efforts since its founding in 1968, the Tile Museum preserves outstanding collections of Valencian architectural ceramics.
