Montán: Tradition, Landscape, and an Olive Unique in the World
In the heart of Montán grows a singular olive variety that you won't find anywhere else on the planet: La Temprana. Starting in October, we invite you to live an authentic experience of countryside, tradition, and flavor by taking part in its manual harvesting using 'ordeño' (hand-milking), the oldest harvesting technique in existence.
This is not your average tourist visit: it is a genuine immersion into the agricultural culture of our land. Choose how you want to experience it:
Essential Experience (Afternoon)
Origin and production: from the olive tree to the oil mill
Discover the secrets of this unique variety and witness its entire transformation process.
- Visit to Montán's unique olive trees: Stroll through centennial olive groves and learn about the agricultural importance of La Temprana.
- Traditional harvesting: Learn how to harvest olives with your own hands using the ancient hand-harvesting technique.
- Visit to the oil mill (5:00 PM): Discover up close how the harvested olives are transformed into olive oil.

Legacy Experience (Morning)
From field to table: tradition, workshop, and local gastronomy
The most complete option to experience tradition with all five senses.
- Visit and manual harvesting: Step into unique olive groves and take part in the traditional harvest.
- Hands-on workshop: Learn step-by-step how to cure and season your own olives, and take the recipe home to recreate it.
- Local product tasting: Enjoy a delicious gastronomic finale featuring local cured meats, aged cheeses, pickles, and artisanal sweets.
