f you’re interested in acquiring some of the finest black truffles grown in Alt Maestrat, visit Culla and its Sunday markets, running until March 2021.
Starting in November and continuing all the way through to March, the black truffle harvest gives lovers of the most exquisite ingredient a full five months to search for and savour its unique flavour and aroma. Culla - one of the villages in the Alt Maestrat county where the finest black truffles are grown - is currently running a Sunday market where you can purchase the very best fresh truffle, at competitive prices, from up to 18 different vendors.
The Black Truffle and Local Produce Market opens at 11am at the Vell Calvari entrance and continues until 1pm. The mission of the market is to showcase the great culinary potential of the truffle and the incredible foodie experiences you can live in the village.
Also for sale are a number of other high quality local products, such as honey, olive oil, nuts, sausages, cheese and desserts that are traditionally made in the area.
In recent years, the black truffle has become an indispensable and highly sought-after ingredient in restaurants cooking up inventive and avant-garde cuisine. The exquisite characteristics of the truffle have seduced hundreds of palates.
The Region of Valencia is home to a number of destinations, such as the Alt Maestrat and Andilla, where some of the best black truffles in the world are said to be found. Black truffles from the Alt Maestrat are most certainly some of the most revered by lovers of the ingredient.
