Days prior to 29 September, the day of San Miguel, events of cultural character such as painting competitions, the proclamation of the celebrations or a moto-cross race scoring for the Championship of Spain are held. The day of San Miguel, the Festival Committee begins the day with the traditional 'arbolà', which means to wake up all residents in Albaida with firecrackers and music. A Mass is celebrated in the chapel of San Miguel and, to close up the festival, a popular open-air ball is held.
