Sagunto castle houses a great wealth of historic treasures. Antiquarium Epigráfico is a case in point, an epigraphical museum with what is considered to be one of the greatest collections in the Iberian Peninsula.

The museum offers a general overview of the archaeological finds discovered in Sagunto. Dating from the Chalcolithic period to the Middles Ages, the selection of objects has grown over the years, thanks to donations and both unexpected and specific archaeological digs in the town and surrounding area. The first object was collected in as far back as the 16th century.

Most of the inscriptions on display at Antiquarium Epigráfico are in Latin, though some objects present epigraphs in Hebrew and decorative elements from Roman architecture.

The museum is well-worth a visit during your visit to Sagunto castle, taking you on a journey back to the mists of time.
