Some of the mosques scattered around the city served as a foundation for the building of new churches, as is the case here. The present layout of the temple is the result of a reconstruction process dating from XIX century, although the neo-classical style of this monument can still be seen, as well as the outstanding Romanesque form of the bell-tower.
