Take a look around a museum that breathes customs, traditions and artisanship.

Casa de les Roques, Les Roques House, dates back to the 15th century. It was built between the year 1435 and 1447 to store the carriages, banners, costumes and other sorts of objects that were used in the Corpus Christi procession. The house is located in El Carmen district of València and is defined by its tall façade from which the Rocas – the Corpus Christi floats – exit.

Les Roques House is also home to three large eagles made from gilded wood and cardboard as well as the frames and clothing of the Giants. Many renovations have been made to the building over the years, due to flooding and bombing. The most recent significant work was conducted in 1980.

The museum is the best place to discover the roots of the Corpus Christi procession and its importance in Valencian tradition. This religious event and festivity brings out characters from the Old and New Testament to the street. Originally, the intention was to promote Catholicism among the population.
