‘The Castellet’, also called the Castle of Murla or the Castle of Orba, depending on the historical document being referred to, is a castle that was built in the Middle Ages. In 1289, the king granted its construction to Berenguer Mercer, lord of Murla and surrouding lands.

The Castellet watched over the entrances to the Laguar Valley and La Rectoría, to warn of possible enemy attacks. It was also the personal residence of Berenguer.

Along our route we will cross dry stone terraced fields with almond trees, very typical of this area, as well as areas of Mediterranean undergrowth where we will see palm hearts, traditionally used to make palm wicker baskets, and kermes oaks (" encinas bordas") next to the traditional mata or murta borda.
