What to do in Benifaió

Wandering around Benifaió’s historic centre is a great place to start your explorations. Make sure you see San Pedro Apóstol Parish Church, a wonderful place of worship with a great dome. Near here you can see Benifaió’s most iconic architectural sight – La Plaza Tower, built between the 11th and 13th centuries. This defensive Islamic structure is a restored Almohad work of art that today houses a fascinating museum collection.

To discover more examples of Benifaió’s historic heritage, walk to Los Falcó House-Palace, whose coat of arms still dominates the plaza. The municipal market, built in 1929, is another must-visit: a work of Rationalist architecture full of stalls selling delicious produce and products. Also make sure you stop off at El Musical Building.

Benifaió is home to charming places like La Virgen de los Desamparados Chapel and La Font de la Carrasca washhouse, a lovely spot. And last on your list is Muza (also spelt Mussa) Tower, a defence structure dating back to the 12th century.

Last but by no means least, you can walk trails in Benifaió that will lead you to old chimneys, known as fumerals, namely Hort de Miralles and Hort d’Aguilar.
