Things to see in Lorcha

  • Parish Church of Santa María Magdalena: originally built in the 18th century and rebuilt in the early 20th century.
  • Streets in the town centre: take a walk through streets lined with traditional houses.
  • Traditional washhouse: you will find this on Calle Teular.
  • Cova Llarga: just outside the centre, this cave is home to ancient rock art. Nearby, you’ll also find a small park that’s well worth a visit.
  • Old railway station: next to it runs the Vía Verde del Xixarra, a scenic route along a former railway line, with impressive tunnels.
  • San Blas Bridge: built in 1909, it crosses the Serpis River.
  • Perputxent Castle: a fortress of Muslim origin dating from the 12th–13th centuries, perched on a rocky outcrop around 2 km from the town, with far-reaching views.
  • Barcella Castle: these ruins sit along the mountain ridge, creating a distinctive silhouette. You’ll find the castle around 11 km from the centre of Lorcha.
  • Snow wells (neveras): such as Castellet, Mig Armud, La Barcella and El Quarteronet—circular structures once used to store snow.

Things to do in Lorcha

As well as exploring the surrounding countryside, which is dotted with springs, old farm buildings, ravines and traditional rural houses, you can follow one of the many walking routes that pass through Lorcha.
