Visiting the city of València is a journey from one breathtaking sight to the next. Discover historic monuments, a natural park close by and things to do with all the family. What to see in València
Originally built up around the river Turia, València’s defining feature is now a vibrant city park. This lush ribbon of green, bustling with outdoor activity, is a great way to explore the city. Make your way through the park and you’ll get to Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, a huge, futuristic complex that houses the science museum, a magnificent concert hall, a 3D cinema and much more.
Serranos Towers are located right next to Turia park and make a starting point for your tour around the historic centre. Be sure to pay a visit to Lonja de la Seda, the finest example of Valencian Gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
València is made up of vibrant neighbourhoods brimming with culture and fun activities. Carmen, Ruzafa and the shopping area around Colón Market are just three areas that are worth a visit. Check out the city’s many museums, including MUVIM, L’Etno and the Museum and College of High Silk Art.
The city of València also boasts vast urban beaches, notably Cabanyal and Malvarrosa, which lie right next to the picturesque seaside neighbourhoods. Many of the streets here are lined with traditional houses, whose eye-catching tiled exteriors and cheerful colours are a real highlight.
South of the city centre, you’ll come across a stretch of beaches, such as Pinedo and Dehesa del Saler, flanked by sand dunes. There is also a Mediterranean forest that forms part of L’Albufera Natural Park. The lagoon and paddyfields here are home to a wealth of birdlife.
To round off your trip to València, we recommend spending an afternoon in El Palmar. Here, the rice fields are dotted with typical Valencian farmhouses called barracas and authentic restaurants that serve up timeless dishes. When are you coming to València?
