The Patron Saint Festival in honour of San Antonio Abad in Canals is a must-visit that you’d be silly to pass by. In this historic town, the tradition of setting alight a bonfire goes back centuries.

In fact, it is one of the largest bonfires in the world, so large that it features in the Guinness World Records and takes more than a month to build, ready for the big blaze. To round off the celebrations, thousands of locals tuck into a traditional oven-baked rice dish together, called "les Cassoles". "Dels Parells" festival arrives to finally end the festivities, comprising an animal blessing ceremony and a parade in which toys and gifts are handed out. During the festive season, expect even more parades, concerts and many more things to get involved in!
