Visit Casa Tápena’s Natural Spaces

Onil is a charming town with intimate links to the toy industry. After a day exploring the Old Town and perusing fascinating spots such as the Doll Museum or the imposing Fortress Palace of the Marqués de Dos Aguas, both adults and children alike will relish spending some time outdoors.

For an experience in nature, we recommend visiting Casa Tápena. Located on Onil’s outskirts, it is a comprehensive nature site comprising four distinct landscape areas plus more than a few delights.

Here you will find fruit trees including cherry, almond and quince, as well as a vegetable garden, Mediterranean garden and a wetland area. Particularly impressive are its centuries-old trees. Every effort has been made to represent the various landscapes of Alicante province as faithfully as possible.

The site’s most remarkable feature is the Casa Tápena Maze, a magnificent living maze, all grown of carefully pruned shrubs. This is an absolutely magical spot where you can quite literally lose yourself! Be sure to get some fabulous photos!

As well as these, Casa Tápena in Onil has an area dedicated to exhibitions and environmental education, where nature takes centre stage.
