The Fiestas del Barrio de Santa Cruz, or the Santa Cruz neighbourhood festival in Alicante brings a burst of colour to this picturesque neighbourhood with the arrival of the Cruces de Mayo, pretty floral displays that line its streets.

When does the Santa Cruz neighbourhood festival take place in Alicante?

During the first week of May, its steep streets are adorned with handcrafted crosses made from flowers which have been created by local residents. Over four days, the neighbourhood comes alive with musical parades, costume competitions and traditional despertàs. It’s also a great time to enjoy alfresco meals and take part in games while drinking in the merriment.
