Barranc del Cint in Alcoy is a hiking trail in the Sierra Mariola that you have to try. And don't forget your binoculars: along the way, you'll have the chance to spot incredible bird species.
This is an 11-km route with a medium level of difficulty, not so much because of its technical characteristics as because of its height gain of about 500 m. Come dressed and shod appropriately, and remember to bring enough water and food.
Barranc del Cint: Route and Places to Discover
The route to the Barranc del Cint, or Cint Ravine, is circular, so you can start off from the beautiful Preventori Recreational Area, leaving the descent into the ravine until the end. Or alternatively, start with the ravine to be impressed by its magnificent vertical walls. On your route, you pass the San Cristóbal cross and chapel. When you reach the Alt de les Pedreres area, the route’s highest peak, you’ll be stunned by its breathtaking lookout points.
From there, with a little luck, you can spot vultures. These magnificent birds have a reserve nearby. Seeing how they fly and perch on their high ledges is quite a spectacle!
If this route is too long for you, you could always go via the lower part of the Barranc del Cint and climb up as far as your strength allows, then retrace your steps and return to Alcoy. Even this shorter version is really worthwhile, as the landscape is unique.
