Looking for places to go climbing in the Region of Valencia? Scroll to discover a handful of the many incredible rockfaces to scale throughout the provinces of Alicante, Castellón and Valencia.

If you love getting up close to nature, the Region of Valencia won’t disappoint. Wherever you go, you will find great rock climbing spots immersed in the most spectacular scenery. These are located close to towns and villages where, after scaling the rockface, you can dig into a hearty meal and wander down beautiful historic streets.

In this post, we are going to list a selection of just some of the best places to go climbing in the provinces of Valencia, Castellón and Alicante. Save this list and make it your guide for enjoying the great outdoors in the Region of Valencia. But before you start heading off into the wilderness, a word of advice: not all the climbing spots are kitted out the same so check what you’ll need before you go.

Rock climbing areas in the province of Alicante

Alicante is bursting with landscapes that lend themselves to rock climbing. Many areas have rockfaces that are begging to be scaled. For instance, between Elda and Petrer, you can climb Peñas de Marín, a popular local spot. In Polop, you will find Ponoig and Penya Roc while in Finestrat you won’t want to miss Puig Campana.

Not far from Cumbres del Sol beach in Benitachell, there are some incredible cliffs, such as Morro Falquí. Alcoy is home to Barranquet de Ferri and Aspe offers plenty of great climbing in the Vinalopó Medio area: Sierra de En Medio and La Ofra in particular. Finally, you can scale El Rut in Redován, Pared Negra and Triángulo Rojo in Orihuela and the Cabreras area in Sax.

Rock climbing areas in the province of Castellón

There are also great climbing spots in the province of Castellón, starting with Montanejos. This famous village is renowned for its spectacular landscape, defined by the river Mijares and La Maimona gorge.

In Jérica, you can take on the many rockfaces created by the passing of water in Cañón del río Palancia while in Vall d’Uixó you can scale the impressive Peñas de Mondragón.

El Castellet is a great climbing area close to the city of Castelló de la Plana as is La Cucala near Borriol. Finally, don’t miss La Rambla in Costur and Murs in Coves de Vinromà. But don’t forget, these suggestions are just scratching at the surface and there are many more places in the province and beyond for you to indulge your passion.

Rock climbing areas in the province of Valencia

Not to mention the province of Valencia, which has a great selection of options. Starting with Chera, which has a spot known, curiously, as Frankenstein, as well as Antenas. Not far from the capital in Alzira, you will find the popular climbing spot of Tallat Roig in La Murta.

With its stunning gorge created by the river Turia, Chulilla is an exceptional spot to take your ropes. And then there is the popular area of Picaio Redó in Algimia d’Alfara, Penya Rotja which is in the Calicanto development between Torrent, Godelleta and Chiva, and Penyes de Guaita in Puçol.

Find out what to expect at each destination, prepare your equipment and get ready to enjoy some incredible climbing in the Region of Valencia.
