Nestled in the province of Valencia, in La Vall d’Albaida, Bufali is a destination brimming with rural charm. It’s the perfect getaway spot to unwind on a country getaway. Let’s go hiking to find out all there is to know.
What to do in Bufali
A leisurely stroll through the narrow village streets with the verdant landscapes in the background and you’ll feel instantly relaxed. See if you can spot the 18th-century religious ceramic tile along Virgen del Loreto street, then head to Nuestra Señora de Loreto Parish Church for a peek inside.
As you step inside the 19th-century Neoclassical church, you’ll be greeted by a simple yet elegant interior. Next on the Bufali sightseeing list is Bufali’s Bird Observatory, which sits on the banks of the pretty river Albaida, and is dedicated to the study and observation of birds. Enjoy a picnic here as you soak up the pleasant scenery.
Don’t leave Bufali without visiting Nevera de la Lloma Solaneta, an old circular snow well that dates back to the 18th century. Located atop Solaneta hill, the site is surrounded by lush landscapes that are great for exploring. Pull on your walking boots and rucksack for a day of hiking adventures.
Bufali is divided into two areas, with the ice well around 16 kilometres from the village centre. You can reach the site on foot along hiking trails and pathways, but you might prefer to drive part of the way.
Bufali is also one of the municipalities along the legendary Camino del Cid, a cultural route that traces the footsteps of the historic figure El Cid. At the town hall, you can get your Letter of Safe Conduct stamped to certify that you're retracing his legendary deeds. Already planning your trip to this inland haven?
