Estación del Norte, North Station in València, sits in the heart of the city. Opened in the early 20th century, the building is a beautiful example of the Art Nouveau style that is sure to impress you with all its details. More than a place of arrival or departure, this is a gateway to the city, welcoming travellers with its incredible façade adorned with motifs of orange trees and orange blossom, an homage to this quintessentially Valencian fruit.
The station is shaped like a “U”, with the space in the middle housing the train tracks and platforms, all of which is topped with an impressive metal roof that is almost 200 m long.
The design of North Station, influenced by the Vienna Secession, balances geometry, verticality and symmetry, combining Art Nouveau with a unique touch of Classicism. The ceramic details, depicting Valencian scenes by José Mongrell, and the panels which read “Buen Viaje” (“have a good trip”) in different languages, make the entrance hall a place bursting with history and hospitality.
The interior of North Station will take travellers and visitors aback. Every architectural and decorative detail invites you to stop for a moment and simply admire what you can see. We recommend visiting the inside of North Station in València to experience its pleasant hustle and bustle.
