When does the Porrate de San Antón take place in Alicante?

This porrat, or traditional fair, is held each January in Alicante’s San Antón neighbourhood. Its origins lie with the area’s farming communities, and today it offers a lively programme of activities for all ages.

Among its most intriguing events is the “Descenso de Galeras”, a race featuring handmade wooden carts, alongside various competitions and sports. The highlight, however, is the popular blessing of the animals, which brings together locals and their pets in a joyous atmosphere. It's an unmissable event where you can experience a truly authentic side of the city.
