Like every summer, chess comes alive again in Xàbia/Jávea this summer. Declared an Event of National Tourist Interest in 2002, this unusual human chess performance organised by the Comissió de Festes Mare de Déu de Loreto takes place in the Pabellón Municipal de Deportes.

Children transform into chess pieces and perform a play with a game of chess as the starting point, and every year the plot changes. They reenact historical events that took place in the region and the plot is devised around a real game of chess. Both chess lovers and those that haven’t a clue about the game will love this original theatrical take on the much beloved sport. Don’t miss it.
