Breathe in the fresh air at Castelló de la Plana’s biggest park, the perfect place for a stroll, picnic or run around.

Sitting just steps from the coast in Grao de Castellón, Parque del Pinar is a lovely park with a total surface area of 121,000m2 and some 2km long. Pinar is the biggest park in the city and, as its name suggests, it is dominated by pine trees. It is thought that there are some 2,000 Aleppo pines and 500 stone pines in the grounds, as well as mastic trees, olivillas and aladiernos.

The park is always lively as it is a popular spot among locals. As you wander around, you’ll likely come across children’s birthday parties, families spending the afternoon together and groups of friends – of all ages – enjoying each other’s company. A number of events are also held in Parque del Pinar, namely the yearly Harley Davidson festival, as well as athletics competitions and golf tournaments (there is a nine-hole course inside the park).

There’s also an area where you can cook a paella or barbecue your favourite foods as well as a municipal pool that opens its doors in the summer months. You’ll also come across various play parks, a mini-golf course, pond, two fountains, a café and a restaurant. When the sun is shining, Parque del Pinar is the ideal spot for dining al fresco, playing with your kids and swimming in the pool. Make sure you check it out the next time you’re in Castelló de la Plana.
