Head to the province of Alicante and you’ll find plenty of landscapes, a rich culture and historic sites you don’t want to miss. At the core of its existence, there’s a distinctly Mediterranean feel and a certain “closeness” among its people that make you feel right at home. Visit Costa Blanca, in Alicante, and experience this unique destination for yourself.
With 200+ kilometres of coastal bliss, this Mediterranean destination is known for its fine sand, crystal clear waters and plenty of spaces where you can relax and unwind. All along its coast, you’ll find the Region of Valencia is dotted with rocky coves and other unique landscapes.
A total of 170 beaches and coves distinguish this part of the Mediterranean coast from others in Spain. Lovers of water sports will also find amenities for windsurfing, sailing, diving, kayaking, paddle boarding and more in Costa Blanca. Try them all and pick your new favourite!
Wherever you go in the province of Alicante, look up. A mix of high, steep mountains like Puig Campana and mountain ranges like Aitana or Mariola tower over the charming destination. On them, you’ll find a range of options for active tourism, like adventurous climbing and family hiking trails, including the 435-kilometre Gran Ruta Costa Blanca Interior. (Divided into 20 stages, this trail lets families of all ages explore the province of Alicante according to their own skill level.)
Head towards the interior of Costa Blanca and be amazed by its charming municipalities and magical castles, like Villena, Sax, Biar, Novelda, Alcoy and Cocentaina, all of which preserve a rich artistic and cultural heritage. The city of Elche is known for its impressive Palmeral, the largest palm orchard in all of Europe, and for the iconic Misteri d’Elx. Both of these natural gems have been named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
All over the province, Alicante has a surprising ecosystem of great natural landscapes, cultural wealth and unique food and drink that let you discover the authentic flavours of the Mediterranean diet. Here, food is made with fresh seafood, vegetables, fruits and tradition, all of which combine to produce that authentic Mediterranean flavour Spain is known for.
Need proof? This part of Spain is home to six Michelin-star restaurants. Its unique rice dishes and traditional stews (like calder, olleta de muntanya and pericana) are just some of the delicacies you can savour in Alicante. The only problem you’ll have is deciding which one to eat first.
