Come to Paterna to experience Moors and Christians parades bursting with traditions and spectacle.

Paterna is another destination in the Region of Valencia that holds a Moors and Christians festival. Every August, the streets of the town come to life in a haze of colour, music and spectacle.

There are over twenty Moors and Christians associations in the town – known as the “family” – which are all part of a federation that takes the task of putting on an incredible festival seriously.

A highlight of Fiestas Patronales, Paterna’s patron saint festival, the Moors and Christians parade has been taking place for over 40 years. Other must-attend events are the two Grandes Noches, namely La Mora and La Cristiana, and the processions which enact the arrival of King James I and the moment the town keys were handed over to the monarch. Another reason to put the town’s Fiestas in your diary.
