Fire defines festivities in Paterna, and San Antonio Abad is no exception. Discover another excuse to visit a town that certainly knows how to put on a celebration.

Like many destinations in the Region of Valencia, Paterna pays homage to San Antonio Abad, the patron saint of animals, big or small. As is often the case, the festivities involve plenty of fire.

You can expect to see the blessing of pets and other animals, such as those traditionally used in agricultural work. As part of the tradition, the animals are given a bread roll that is meant to be kept until the next year. There are also correfocs, spectacular events that illuminate the streets with fireworks, and – of course – the traditional bonfire. Come to the town to experience this great festival and soak up the atmosphere.
