Alicante is transformed every June when we celebrate the festival, Las Hogueras de San Juan, popularly known as Fogueres. From 20 to 24 June, the fogueres appear, artistic monuments created with satire and wit, designed to be burned. There are parades and traditional dances, where you can vibrate to the music and admire the traditional costumes. And there's no shortage of gunpowder, which perfumes Alicante! Don't miss your date with the mascletà every day at 2 pm.

The committees are the soul of this festival: they mark out their territory with an artistic entrance to their barraca, a space where they gather to share good times and enjoy themselves. These are also places where they pay tribute to the local cuisine, which during these days of celebration are filled with recipes such as coca amb tonyina, a savoury pizza-like bread topped with tuna and figs. On the 24th, the magical Nit de la Cremà arrives, which, after a gigantic fireworks display, set off from the battlements of Santa Bárbara Castle, shrouds everything in a spectacular, purifying fire that closes the festival amid excitement and sparks. And the celebration goes on: over the following days, fireworks light up Postiguet Beach in a competition that will take your breath away. Come and experience one of the most vibrant festivals in the Mediterranean!
