Cruces de Mayo transform Alicante’s picturesque Santa Cruz neighbourhood into a vibrant display of colour and tradition during the first week of May.

At the foot of Monte Benacantil and Santa Bárbara castle, its steep streets are adorned with floral crosses and carefully crafted decorations made by local residents.

Over four days, the festival brings the neighbourhood to life with musical parades, costume contests and the traditional despertàs. Food shared out in the streets and activities for all ages round out the programme that offers a glimpse into the city’s most authentic, community spirit, all set against a striking backdrop.
