La Pilarica-Sierra de Callosa in Callosa de Segura is home to a recreational area where you can unwind and enjoy the scenery.

La Cueva Ahumada recreational area in Callosa de Segura is the perfect complement to the many trails, climbing walls and via ferratas sprinkled across this part of La Vega Baja in the province of Alicante.

La Cueva Ahumada and its recreational area are situated in Sierra de Callosa, which is part of La Pilarica-Sierra de Callosa, listed a Paraje Natural Municipal (municipal natural landscape). It is an area of natural beauty defined by unique rock formations, rugged peaks and sheer cliffs. A great many different animals have made the area their home, including several species of birds of prey.

At the recreational area you’ll find everything you’ll need to have a good time with your friends and family: a carpark, playgrounds, rock climbing areas and the trailhead for all sorts of different walks.

The limestone soil of Sierra de Callosa has created a unique landscape that stands tall in the relatively flat scenery that defines this part of the province of Alicante.

If you fancy spending more time in the great outdoors during your time in the area, you could visit Castillo de Callosa, a Moorish fortress where important archaeological finds have been discovered on the slopes, or set off on a search of the Roman ruins in Barranco del Diablo. We’d also recommend taking a look at the Islamic cistern, which is locally known as Casica de la Tía Ana. Callosa de Segura has got all sorts of things to see and do so why not start planning a visit?
