It is possible to see the European roller near El Hondo in Elche-Crevillente, in an atypical forest formed by hundreds of palm trees. We can enjoy this bird with colourful plumage that visits our fields in mid spring, nesting in cavities in the palm trees. This rural setting forms part of the largest palm forest in Europe, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. Depending on the time of the year, we can also enjoy the presence of tree creepers, green woodpeckers and possibly the odd pratincole.
