Every July, Villajoyosa in Alicante celebrates its Moors and Christians Festival, a unique experience that combines history, tradition and spectacle. For a week, the streets are filled with music, parades, fireworks and festive hospitality.The most emblematic event is the Desembarc, a night-time re-enactment of the Saracen landing on the beach, with boats, fire, combat and excitement in front of the sea. This vibrant event transforms history into a truly lively celebration. There are also paella competitions, when the entrants for this culinary contest fill the streets with colour, while the air fills with the smell of paella and the music of the bands. Don't miss it!
