Every month in July, Villajoyosa in the province of Alicante hosts fiestas de Moros y Cristianos, the Moors and Christians festival, a unique experience combining history, tradition and spectacle. For one week, the streets will be filled with music, processions, gunpowder and a festive spirit. The most iconic event is the Desembarc, a nighttime recreation of the disembarkment of the Moors on the beach, featuring boats, fire, combat and excitement on the shore. This vibrant event brings history to life. There will also be paella contests and entradas that fill the streets with colour and incredible band music. Don’t miss it.
