Make sure you visit this watchtower and old warehouse during your time in Alcalà de Xivert/Alcossebre to gain a greater understanding of the destination’s past.

Torre de Capicorb and the old port warehouse are located close to Capicorb, a small village in Alcalà de Xivert/Alcossebre. Historically, Torre de Capicorb was part of a network of watchtowers that kept a close eye on everything that passed through this stretch of the Mediterranean.

Sitting at a strategic point on the mouth of the river San Miguel, the watchtower was built in 1427 by the Order of Montesa.

It is 13m tall and robustly built with walls that are 2m thick. There are three floors. The ground floor has an entrance through a stone Roman arch and the second floor is decorated with corbels. The tower is also equipped for the use of crossbows.

The old port warehouse, on the other hand, is located in El Renquet, an old part of the village. Built in the 18th century, the warehouse looks like a fortress and comprises two large spaces and a patio. The building’s original colours and design are intact.

Make sure you visit both of these sights during your time in Alcalà de Xivert/Alcossebre, a destination that is defined by the beautiful coves and beaches lining the coast, the Sierra de Irta mountainscape, delicious cuisine and all the services you could possibly want or need. Put the watchtower and old port warehouse on your to-visit list for this part of the province of Castellón.
