One of the most exciting events in Castelló de la Plana, Fiestas de La Magdalena, La Magdalena Festival, is just around the corner. The 2024 edition will feature free concerts, funfairs, fireworks, traditional ceremonies, parades, and much more. Here are the highlights of the festival day by day. Excitement is tangible in every corner of the city.

Beginning on the 2 of March, we first have the 'imposición de pañuelo' ceremony by the Tombatosals statue, the 'Cabalgata del Pregón' - the opening parade, and an impressive display of light-up floats called Gaiatas. The 3 of March is dedicated to the 'Romería de las Cañas' - a traditional pilgrimage, followed by the dramatic entrance of the famous adorned carts and the official Gaiatas parade. On Monday 4, it’s the kids’ turn with the children's grand opening event, as well as the 'Encesa de Gaiatas', where the floats all come together in a spectacular light display, and don't forget to visit the historic Fadri bell tower while you're in the area.

'La Nit Màgica Especial 2024' will take place on the 5 of March, filling the streets with firecrackers, music, and people dressed as demons wreaking havoc. On the following day, head to the 'Dolçaina i el Tabal' traditional homage, a musical procession of typical snare drums and flutes that forms the festival's soundtrack.

On the 6, the 'Muestra de Carros Engalanados' - the decorated cart procession, and the Tribute to Seniors event are next on the list, and on the 7, the much anticipated 'Coso MultiColour' gets under away, to the delight of all the kids. On the second Saturday of the Madgalena celebrations, on the 9, the touching 'Ofrenda de Flores' takes place all morning and afternoon; flowers are offered to Mare de Déu de Lledó in the Basilica, filling the place with colour. And finally, on the 10 March, the fiesta reaches its climax with the 'Campeonato Mundial de Boli', the sport's World Championships, the closing parade, the 'Gran Traca Fina', and the emotional closing ‘scream’ named the 'Magdalena Vítol'. So much to see and do, so get ready and join the fiesta.
