Have you ever been on a pilgrimage? Give it a go this year and start your journey in Useras in the county of L'Alcalatén on the last Friday of April. Learn all about this ancient tradition and be transported back to the Middle Ages, when thirteen men - a guide and 12 pilgrims representing Jesus Christ and his twelve Apostles - undertake a penitential pilgrimage to the Sant Joan sanctuary in Penyagolosa. They renew their vows, alongside the whole village, who accompanies them up to the church. All the locals take part in this symbolic event, so join in and soak up this age-old authentic tradition.
